Camilo Announces New Album Para Cuando Sean Mayores

Colombian singer Camilo Echeverry has announced that his next studio album, Para Cuando Sean Mayores, will be released on September 9.

The announcement marks the end of a music release hiatus lasting over a year for the artist, who is known for his signature handlebar moustache and is not to be confused with the late Spanish singer Camilo Sesto.

Camilo released his previous album, Cuatro, in May 2024. The most listened to tracks from that record were Una Vida Pasada, featuring Mexican singer Carin Leon, and PLIS, performed with his wife, Venezuelan singer Evaluna Montaner. Since that project, the Colombian performer had only released a single standalone track, Maldito ChatGPT, leaving fans eagerly anticipating an announcement of new music.

Dedication to His Daughters

The new album, whose title translates to For When They Grow Up, is dedicated to his two young daughters, Indigo and Amaranto. Camilo has frequently spoken about his deep love for his children, the challenges of parenting and education, and how he and Evaluna coordinate their schedules to care for them. He created the album as a gift that will wait for them until they are older.

To announce the release date, Camilo shared a video online in which he performs a puppet show in front of his daughters while reciting a poem.

In the video performance, Camilo opens by asking where his toy cars went and noting that he never saw them again. He asks how he could lose them when he needs them now, admitting that if it was an oversight, he lacked vigilance. He questions how he traded his substance for stage tickets, stating that he was both victim and perpetrator in the theft of his childhood.

He reassures his daughters that this story is not theirs and says that within their walls he watches even the cracks so that lizards do not enter to steal their colors. He tells the girls that these flying stories, which they may not understand today, will wait in time for when they grow up. The video ends with the closure of a clapperboard.

Collaborations With Evaluna Montaner

The poem leaves listeners questioning whether the recited verses will form part of a track on the new album, with fans needing to wait until September 9 or an advance single release to find out.

The announcement has also raised questions regarding whether Evaluna Montaner will participate in the project. Camilo routinely relies on his wife to lend a feminine perspective to his music, having featured her voice on songs such as Por Primera Vez, Machu Picchu, Indigo, PLIS, and Navidad En Cada Esquina.

The couple has also collaborated on group tracks, including Amen, which brought together Evaluna's father, Latin pop star Ricardo Montaner, alongside her brothers Mau and Ricky. Additionally, they performed together on a cover of Ricardo Montaner's song Si Tuviera Que Elegir.

Their relationship is widely regarded as one of the most celebrated love stories on the internet. The music video for Por Primera Vez incorporates actual footage from their wedding, illustrating the feeling of sharing life experiences with a loved one. Observers consider it highly probable that Evaluna will sing on the new album or have a song dedicated to her.
