Latin music stars including Luis Fonsi, Camilo and Alejandro Sanz have rallied to support Colombia after a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck the South American nation on Monday.
At least 132 people have died and more than 570 others have been injured in the disaster, according to figures reported by Spanish news outlet El Confidencial.
The severe tremor caused dozens of buildings to collapse, overwhelmed local hospitals, and forced several major airports to suspend all flight operations. Shaking was felt across major Colombian cities including the capital Bogota, Cali, Popayan, Manizales, Armenia, Pereira and Medellin, as well as in neighbouring Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela.

Following the disaster, prominent musicians whose songs feature regularly on Spanish radio station CADENA 100 moved quickly to publish messages of solidarity, offer words of encouragement, and direct followers to emergency aid distribution points across the affected region.
Devastation across major cities
Emergency services in Colombia have been stretched to capacity as recovery teams search through the rubble of collapsed structures. The magnitude 7.4 tremor shook urban centres across western and central Colombia, cutting off transport links and disrupting municipal infrastructure. The impact extended beyond Colombian borders, triggering tremors felt by residents in neighbouring nations including Venezuela and Ecuador.
Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi was among the first international artists to react to the tragedy, posting a message to his followers on Instagram stories. Fonsi, who is best known globally for his Latin pop hits and is preparing to release his upcoming single Me Despido, expressed disbelief at the recurring natural disasters impacting South America.

In his message, Fonsi said he could not believe that such events continued to happen in countries he loved so deeply, referencing recent hardship in Venezuela before turning his attention to the crisis in Colombia. He added that his heart was aching for Colombia and for everyone affected by the earthquake. The singer noted that his Latin heritage made it impossible not to view neighbouring nations as brothers, making news of such widespread destruction particularly painful.
Tributes from international artists
Spanish singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz also shared a message of sympathy for the victims. Sanz, a veteran pop star famed for his hit ballad Corazon Partio and recipient of multiple Grammy awards, has built a long-standing connection with Colombian audiences throughout his career.
Writing on social media, Sanz stated that when the earth trembles, hearts draw closer together, adding that his thoughts were directly with Colombia. His message reflected the deep affection he has consistently maintained for the country, where his music has enjoyed widespread popularity for decades.
Colombian singer Camilo leads aid calls
The tragedy struck particularly close to home for Latin Grammy winner Camilo, who was born in Colombia. Watching his native country suffer widespread destruction prompted the singer to issue an emotional public statement shortly after the quake occurred.

Camilo explained that although the event had taken place very recently and the full extent of the losses in his country was not yet known, speaking with friends in Colombia had left him with a deep sense of anguish. He said he experienced a heavy knot in his stomach after hanging up the phone with close friends who recounted how they lived through the shaking. Describing the moment as filled with fear and pain, Camilo told fans he was actively waiting to identify the most effective ways to assist so that he could join relief efforts immediately.
He urged followers to send information and verified calls to action directly to his social media direct messages, promising to monitor his inbox closely and sending his love to those enduring the aftermath.
Camilo subsequently posted two joint video messages alongside his wife, Venezuelan singer and actress Evaluna Montaner. Opening the video, Evaluna explained that the couple had been tuned into updates from Colombia since early that morning and had spoken directly with numerous friends on the ground to gather firsthand accounts. She described the unfolding situation across the country as deeply worrying.
Camilo echoed his wife's concerns in the broadcast, stating that while the overall magnitude of the devastation remained uncertain, it was already clear that large numbers of people had been displaced, lost all their possessions, and required urgent humanitarian assistance. He stressed the vital importance of organizing immediate fundraising efforts and taking swift action to deliver effective aid to those in distress. Encouraging viewers worldwide to contribute however possible, Camilo noted that anyone living near Colombia who could assist should do so, before directing followers to a donation link for the non-profit organization The House Project.

Italian pop singer Laura Pausini, who has maintained a prominent presence in the Spanish-speaking music world for over three decades, also joined the global relief effort. Pausini published dedicated social media posts outlining active fundraising initiatives and providing direct links for families seeking to locate missing relatives or report unaccounted loved ones.
In a second public update, Pausini shared detailed guidance on how individuals inside Colombia could assist local operations. Her post highlighted the most immediate physical needs of disaster survivors and listed direct telephone helplines for victims seeking emergency assistance within the country.
Spanish pop star Aitana joined the solidarity campaign by sharing posts featuring the hashtag ColombiaSeLevanta, encouraging fans to participate in collective relief initiatives. Aitana, who gained prominence on Spanish television before establishing a successful recording career, also uploaded Instagram stories detailing emergency telephone lines and contacts for those seeking to aid earthquake victims.
Seville-born singer Alvaro de Luna, known for his hit single Juramento Eterno De Sal, joined Aitana in amplifying the ColombiaSeLevanta campaign across his social channels. Radio network CADENA 100 concluded its coverage by extending its full support and encouragement to the Colombian people, expressing solidarity with the victims, families of the deceased, and first responders working on the front lines of the disaster.
