Spanish businesswoman Carla Goyanes has closed the second edition of the Memorial Carlos Goyanes padel tournament in Marbella to honor her late father two years after his passing.
The annual sporting memorial brings together family members, friends, and players of various ages to celebrate the memory of prominent Spanish businessman Carlos Goyanes.
The month of August remains a painful period for the Goyanes Lapique family following two tragic bereavements in quick succession in 2024. Carlos Goyanes died at the age of 79 on August 7 after suffering a heart attack in his sleep at his home in Guadalmina, an exclusive residential neighborhood in Marbella on Spain's Costa del Sol.

Just 19 days after her father's death, his daughter Caritina Goyanes passed away on August 26 at the age of 46. Caritina, who was the sister of Carla and daughter of socialite Cari Lapique, died from cardiac arrest while vacationing on the Costa del Sol.

Reflecting on the second anniversary, Carla Goyanes said that two years had passed since the loss of her father and sister but admitted that it still felt like yesterday. She explained that the week remained extremely difficult for her entire family, but they chose to face it by gathering around an activity that held deep personal meaning for her father.
Goyanes noted that spending those days focused on children, sports, and padel was a beautiful way to honor her father and the values he passed on. She recalled how he spent his life encouraging his daughters, grandchildren, and friends to play sports, compete, enjoy themselves, and share those experiences together.

Tribute to Caritina Goyanes and family faith
Speaking about her late sister Caritina, Goyanes described her as an extraordinary individual who left a lasting legacy among those who knew her. She praised her sister as a great woman, mother, businesswoman, sister, friend, and boss, calling her a wonderful person.
Goyanes also highlighted her sister's deep religious convictions, stating that Caritina had passed her strong faith on to the rest of the family. She said that this shared faith had provided immense support, enabling the family to navigate their painful loss, move forward, and find happiness despite her ongoing absence.
