Actress Carla Jeffery, who starred as Bree in the Disney Channel movie franchise Zombies, has passed away at the age of 33 on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Her representative team, Alexanders Talent Management Family, announced her passing, noting that she died on September 1. While the exact circumstances regarding her death have not been publicly disclosed, her family moved swiftly to address online speculation surrounding her sudden loss.
Following news of her passing, fans questioned whether drugs were involved, prompting her family to clarify to entertainment outlet TMZ that Jeffery did not do drugs and that narcotics played no role in her death.
Twin brother shares final text message
Her twin brother, Carlon Jeffery, who is also an actor and a rapper, paid tribute to his sister on social media by posting a screenshot on Instagram of the final text message he sent to her before she died.
The text message expressed loving and encouraging sentiments that focused on pride, protection, and lifelong support. Carlon wrote to his sister: "I was just calling to see how your day went! I love you to the moon & back sis."
He continued his message by praising her resilience and character, writing: "I just want you to know how proud I am of you. Your resilience, your grace, your infectious smile that lights up a room. You are truly a light that shines bright."
Carlon urged her to remain strong when facing difficulties, telling her: "Don't let anyone.. dim that light.. even yourself. The light you carry is special and must be protected at all times."
He concluded the text message with a pledge of devotion: "You are the best sister a brother could ask for. I pray we continue to grow closer to one another along this journey. I got your back in this life and the next."
Carlon shared the screenshot alongside a gif of Jeffery sitting on a beach and gently smiling at the camera while a stormy sea tossed in the background.
The social media post was set to the soundtrack of Brandy's 1994 song Best Friend, featuring the lyrics: "Whenever I'm down / I call on you, my friend / A helping hand you lend in my time of need, so I / I’m calling you now, just to make it through…."
Carlon and Jeffery shared a close bond as twins and fellow Disney Channel performers. Singer Brandy released Best Friend in 1994 as a single dedicated to deep personal support and loyalty.
Talent management pays tribute
Jeffery was represented by Alexanders Talent Management Family for over 20 years, having joined the talent agency when she was 12 years old. The company released a statement expressing deep grief over her death.
The talent management statement read: "It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffery, who passed away on September 1, 2026, at just 33 years old."
They recalled watching her grow over two decades into someone "whose radiant smile could light up any room."
The agency added: "As Bree in Disney's hit ZOMBIES franchise, Carla shared her joy, humor, and bright spirit with audiences around the world. Carla was more than a client; she was family."
Requesting privacy for her family, the statement concluded: "Our hearts are with Carla's family and loved ones during this devastating time. We respectfully ask that their privacy be honored as they grieve this unimaginable loss. Rest beautifully, Carla. Your light will never be forgotten."
Two decades in television and film
Jeffery was widely loved by fans and co-stars for her joyful and energetic portrayal of Bree in the Disney Channel Zombies franchise. Her acting career began at age 12, playing a younger version of Oscar-winning actress Mo'Nique's character in the 2006 film Phat Girlz.
In 2007, she secured a recurring role on HBO's comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm. She subsequently appeared in numerous television series, including iCarly, Lie To Me, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and American Vandal.
From 2018 to 2022, Jeffery starred in the original Zombies Disney Channel movie trilogy. She later reprised the role of Bree in Zombies: The Re-Animated Series Shorts and the 2024 animated series Zombies: The Re-Animated Series, and attended the Los Angeles premiere of Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires in July 2025.

Jeffery's last public Instagram post was shared on July 26, featuring a recap of a birthday party for her friend and Zombies co-star Meg Donnelly.
Jeffery wrote in the caption: "What A Night !. Hope You Had An Amazing Birthday @megdonnelly Cuz iHad An Amazing Night Girl ! lol You Always Know How To Bring The Looks &The Party, Queen ! Love Youu MegBoo !!"
Following the announcement of her death, her former co-stars posted tributes on social media. Swayam Bhatia, who played Vera in the series, wrote: "rest in peace Carla. We love you."
Pearce Joza, who played Wyatt, shared: "I love you, Carla."
Chandler Kinney, who portrayed Willa, wrote that Jeffery was "the brightest shining light in any room she walked into. the kindest person you’d ever meet. the most beautiful soul," before adding: "this doesn’t feel real….."
