Catherine Zeta-Jones will return to television screens on October 2 in Kill Jackie, an eight-episode thriller series arriving globally on Prime Video and on AMC+ in the United States.
The series presents Zeta-Jones, an Academy Award-winning actress known for her roles in Chicago and Wednesday, as Jackie, a former international drug smuggler who successfully abandoned her criminal past to build a quiet career as an art dealer.
Her quiet life is disrupted when she discovers that a lethal syndicate known as The Seven Demons, comprising some of the world's most dangerous contract killers, has been hired to eliminate her.
A hunter becomes the hunted
Convinced that someone from her past orchestrated the threat, Jackie resolves to reactivate the survival instincts forged during her darkest years.
Rather than waiting for the assassins to track her down, she launches a direct and high-risk counteroffensive to locate and eliminate each hunter before they reach her.
The mission forces her to confront both the mercenaries on her trail and secrets she kept buried for years, revealing that internal ghosts may pose a greater threat than her armed pursuers.
Adaptation and creative team
Kill Jackie is based on the novel The Price You Pay, written by British author Nick Harkaway under the pseudonym Aidan Truhen. Harkaway, the son of espionage novelist John le Carré, published the action book in 2018.
The television adaptation was created by Conor Keane and Tom Butterworth, who previously worked on the British action series Gangs of London, alongside producer Peter Lawson of the John Wick film franchise and director Damon Thomas of Killing Eve.
Thomas serves as the primary director for the project, while Butterworth functions as head writer and showrunner. Keane also contributed to the script adaptation, and author Harkaway joins the production as executive consultant to maintain alignment with his source material.
Ensemble cast and executive production
Zeta-Jones leads an international ensemble cast that features Daniel Ings, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Bill Paterson, Ron Perlman, Óscar Jaenada, Hattie Hook, and Darci Shaw.
The supporting cast also includes Raff Law, Enzo Cilenti, Christine Adams, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Sebastian Armesto, Julian Barratt, and Jonathan Cake. Perlman is widely known for starring in Hellboy, while Knudsen achieved international acclaim in the Danish political drama Borgen.
In addition to starring in the series, Zeta-Jones serves as an executive producer alongside Peter Lawson, Jose Agustin Valdes, Tom Butterworth, Damon Thomas, Rebecca Dundon, Dante Di Loreto, and Jeffrey Levine.
Global release and distribution
All eight episodes of Kill Jackie will be made available as a single binge drop on October 2.
International viewers will be able to stream the full season on Prime Video across ten territories: the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Canada.
In the United States, subscription streaming platform AMC+ will carry the entire series starting on the same premiere date.
