In the early 2000s, Chulpan Khamatova began to work a lot in Germany: the actress starred in films and acted in theaters.

His most famous project is the film Goodbye, Lenin, released in 2003. His partner in the film was German actor Daniel Brühl. In the film, Chulpan played nurse Lara, who works at the hospital where the main character’s mother goes.

In the Russian press, they immediately began to write that Khamatova would make a career in the West and stop acting with Russian directors. There were reasons for rumors about emigration: in addition to work, the actress was also drawn to love in Germany. Then she just started an affair with the dancer Alexei Dubinin, who was the soloist of the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. The passion between them flared up quickly: at the time of their acquaintance, both were married, and Chulpan had just given birth to a daughter from her husband Ivan Volkov. Khamatova soon divorced her, but Dubinin did not officially end her marriage, although he was in a relationship with the actress for several years, and she called him her husband.

Speaking of her work in Germany, Chulpan was rather reserved and did not show that she was fascinated by life abroad. For example, she blamed German directors for being late, while it is generally accepted that representatives of this nation are punctual.

In an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, the actress also complained that Russian actors in Europe were underpaid.

“German producers are trying to save money on Russian actors. My agent in Germany is fighting and convincing that Russian actors are on the same level as Germans and have been making decent money for a long time,” he said. she admitted.

Moreover, in the same interview, Khamatova said that she was not going to give up everything to work in Europe.

“Making a career in the West is not my goal. It takes huge acts of self-degradation to break through, which I don’t want to do. Besides, we’re strangers in the West,” she said. SO.

As a result, Khamatova changed her mind, but her success remains an open question.
