The 45-year-old funk artist was admitted to Copa D’or Hospital, in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro on June 27 with heart and kidney failure. On July 10, he had cardiorespiratory arrest for 14 minutes.

Now, after receiving the artificial heart, Marcinho will remain hospitalized for the next few months until he receives an organ transplant.

The singer’s case is considered serious by the medical team. In addition to the heart, he needs a kidney transplant and continues to undergo hemodialysis daily.

For at least ten years Marcinho has been dealing with a series of chronic diseases such as diabetes, kidney disease and dilated heart disease.
