The cases of Yasmin Domminguez, Ruslana Korshunova, Fernanda Vogel and Adriana de Oliveira have received widespread media coverage
The young woman’s fatality evokes memories of other models with an abrupt and dramatic end. Some cases have had strong repercussions in the press.
On June 28, 2008, Kazakh Ruslana Korshunova fell from a new floor of a building in New York. Nicknamed “Russian Rapunzel,” she was 20 years old. Police ruled it a suicide.
Two years earlier, she had visited the “pedophilia island” of the magnate Jeffrey Epstein, protagonist of a scandal of sexual exploitation of young people. The case also involved Prince Andrew, of the United Kingdom.
American journalists have speculated that Ruslana may be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder due to her experience with her attacker and feared the end of her career if she was discovered in the crime investigation.

Fernanda Vogel, from Rio de Janeiro, rose to fame after starring in a chocolate TV commercial. Her perfect body seen in magazine editorials earned her the title of “beachwear queen.” She was having a blast in 2001 when she planned to work in New York.
On July 27 of that year, the model was traveling with her boyfriend, businessman João Paulo Diniz, to her home in Maresias, on the north coast of São Paulo, when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed into the sea.
Diniz and the pilot managed to swim to the beach. Fernanda, 20, was found a week later. With a busy schedule, the model launched new campaigns. Her burial in Rio was attended by several fashion personalities.

Adriana de Oliveira was one of the most successful models in the late 80s. Her blue eyes on her delicate face were impressive in photos and videos.
She won the Brazilian leg of ‘Supermodel of the World’, held on the stage of the Gugu program on SBT, and was a finalist in the global competition in the United States.
The “Cinderella of Santo André”, nicknamed in reference to the city of ABC São Paulo where she was born, had several commitments with magazines and brands when a tragedy occurred.
On January 27, 1990, she had convulsions in a farm in the interior of Minas Gerais, where she was resting with her boyfriend and some friends. Taken to the hospital, she died at the age of 20.
According to an article published a few days later in ‘Veja’, the cause was a “drug cocktail found in the body”. The press used the strong example of Adriana de Oliveira to discuss the use of narcotics among young people.
