It all started in 1951: what the first Miss World winners looked like

71 years ago, for the first time on the planet, the international competition “Miss World” was held – the oldest competition of its kind. VOICE talks about the most brilliant winners of the 20th century – from 1951 to 1999.

In 1951, the first international beauty contest was held in London. It was originally planned to be a one-off event, but the hype surrounding the beauty contest (which was only worth a parade in a bathing suit) forced its organizer Eric Merli to make it an annual event.

The man did not have to invent a name: the British press did it for him. Miss World turns 70 in 2021! We offer you to see what the brightest winners of the 20th century looked like, and at the same time assess how beauty trends have changed over the past few decades.
