You definitely won’t recognize Courteney Cox in this role, which she’s still embarrassed about (and it’s not an ad for tampons)

The world recognized Courteney Cox thanks to the role of Monica Geller in the cult television series Friends. But before that, the budding actress was forced to be content with modest episodic roles. We will tell you about such today.

You may have seen the archival tampon ad from 1985, featuring Courteney Cox, that went viral on the web a long time ago. But did you know that this role was not the first for Courtney?

In 1984, the actress starred in Bruce Springsteen’s music video for the song Dancing In The Dark. Cox got the role of a fan of the singer, whom he eventually invites to dance with him on stage during a performance.

The actress still remembers the audition with embarrassment. Courtney was only 20 then and surrounded by celebrities, she felt uncomfortable (and the clip was directed by Brian De Palma himself, who had previously directed Scarface and Carrie).

At the casting, she had to dance, and she could barely move – a real nightmare!

Bruce Springsteen is amazing. I love this song. But I’m still a bit confused when watching videos. Look at my dance! It was a shame. I dance well, but it was terrible. I was so nervous. I felt out of my element. I couldn’t even bend my leg!” Cox recalled his torment.

Ironically, it was this uncertainty of the actress that fascinated the director – he realized that Courtney would ideally embody the image of a fan who had the chance to dance with an idol.

“I walked into Brian De Palma’s office. He put the music on and said, “Well, dance.” And I thought, “Right now? Here? In front of you? Just the two of us?” I think that’s why I got the part, because they wanted to find a fan who just couldn’t believe her luck,” Cox explained.

Well, you have to be able to turn your failures into victories – we take an example from Courtney. And, of course, we dance with her to the cool 80s hit. By the way, it seems to us that the actress worries in vain and coped with the role brilliantly. And what do you think?
