Reality television star Christopher 'Block' Gordon, who gained national prominence on Discovery's Street Outlaws: Fastest in America, was killed aged 55 in a track accident during a racing event at KD Motorsports Park in South Webster, Ohio, last Saturday.
The Scioto County Sheriff's Office told local television station WOWK 13 News that Gordon was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth shortly after 8pm, where he was pronounced dead.
KD Motorsports Park released an official statement on Facebook regarding the fatal accident at the track. Management at the venue confirmed that emergency medical personnel and safety teams reacted immediately to the crash.
"Our staff was immediately on scene with trained medical staff, firefighters, EMT and medical equipment, along with highly medically trained bystanders who exhausted all of their efforts at the time of the accident," KD Motorsports Park wrote.
Gordon, the owner of Block Motorsports, had used social media earlier in the day to promote the racing event. On Saturday morning, he wrote "Let's get busy!" on Facebook to engage with fans before taking to the track. Friends and members of the racing community described him as "a man who lived life to the fullest."
South Webster is a village located in Scioto County in southern Ohio, near the Ohio River. Southern Ohio Medical Center, located in nearby Portsmouth, is a regional hospital facility that serves emergency and medical needs across the tri-state area.
Tributes from family and fiancée
Gordon is survived by his fiancée of two years, Amanda Laport Grasty, who expressed her deep sorrow on social media following the accident. Grasty said she feels "lost" and "shattered" without him.
"We did EVERYTHING together, from the time we woke up in the morning until he kissed my forehead good night EVERY NIGHT," Grasty wrote in a Facebook post.
In a second emotional message, Grasty wrote: "We were a TEAM and now I've lost my MVP. There is no 'I' in 'team' so now I don't know how 'I' am supposed to move continue."
Fundraising campaign and television career
Following the accident, an official GoFundMe campaign was organized by Jessica Litchfield to assist Gordon's family with unexpected costs. As of Tuesday, the online fundraiser had raised $3,725 toward a $50,000 goal.
The campaign was established "to help ease some of the financial burden that is going to accumulate from medical bills and funeral expenses," according to the fundraising page created by Litchfield.
Audiences first came to know Gordon when he starred in the reality competition show Street Outlaws: Fastest in America. Broadcast on Discovery in 2020 and 2021, the show featured eight teams of street racers competing over its first two seasons for a $100,000 cash prize, with Gordon serving as team leader.
Discovery, an American flagship cable network owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has produced multiple popular spin-offs under the Street Outlaws franchise. The series highlights high-stakes automotive competition, track mechanics, and team rivalries between veteran drivers across North America.
Gordon was a graduate of Summerville High School in Summerville, South Carolina. Known for representing his home state in competition, he was affectionately dubbed the "South Carolina Street King" on the reality television series.
