Dakota Fanning and Louisa Krause will lead the main cast of a new untitled spy thriller series for Apple TV, according to a report from Deadline. The streaming service from Cupertino is continuing to develop new original series to capture viewer attention, following the release of season four of Ted Lasso and ahead of the launch of Slow Horses season six on September 16.
Emmy winner Alex Cary created the untitled suspense series and serves as showrunner on the project. Cary developed the show under his overall production deal with Sony Pictures Television through FLW Productions. He previously won an Emmy Award for his work on the drama series Homeland.
Plot details and character roles
Fanning will star as an undercover Treasury agent who embeds deep within an international multi-billion-dollar conglomerate. The organization holds widespread political and criminal connections with the potential to change the world. During her assignment, the agent finds herself torn between fulfilling her official mission and her belief that her primary target is at heart a good man who is worthy of her love. That target is the heir apparent to all of the corrupt power.
While Fanning's character storyline has been revealed, the specific role that Krause will play in the series is being kept secret. Krause is known for her lead role as Anna in The Girlfriend Experience, as well as major recurring roles in Ray Donovan and Billions. She also forms part of the main cast for the Netflix series The Body and recently wrapped filming on the Showtime independent film Here Kitty.
The main cast for the spy thriller is completed by an ensemble of actors who have already been confirmed. Fanning and Krause will star alongside Stellan Skarsgård, Daryl McCormack, Grace Gummer, Joely Richardson, and Susan Kelechi Watson.
Production team and directing staff
Kari Skogland will direct the series and also serve as an executive producer. Skogland's previous directing credits include the projects Smoke and The Handmaid's Tale. Executive producer Julie Gardner represents Bad Wolf America on the production team, having previously produced Lady in the Lake and Doctor Who.
Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward serve as executive producers on behalf of Lewellen Pictures. The production company's previous projects include Margo's Got Money Troubles and The Great.
