Elijah Wood reunited with his former Lord of the Rings castmates Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan for dinner in Cambridge, Massachusetts, last Friday.

The Actor Award-winning ensemble gathered at Peruvian restaurant La Royal. It marked 23 years since the four actors shared the screen in the final film of the trilogy, The Return of the King, which won 11 Oscars.

Astin, who is still in a group chat with his costars, posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, "The band's all here." Monaghan also shared a photo from inside the restaurant, revealing that the four halflings enjoyed three cocktails, two desserts and one great night of conversation, teasing that there is more to come.

Staff members at La Royal said they were starstruck by the visit. They described how the world rejoiced as the group incited the forces of the universe to align for a magic evening.

On Sunday, Monaghan shared another Instagram story featuring Wood with the caption, "Looks like our engagement party announcement, haha!" Representatives for all four actors were reached for comment but did not immediately respond.

Fans of the franchise reacted with excitement on social media. Instagram user @tinabambina29 posted the top comment, writing, "It's second breakfast!"

Monaghan also posted a picture from inside Peruvian restaurant La Royal where he revealed the 'four halflings' enjoyed 'three cocktails, two desserts and one great night of conversation' teasing: 'More to come'

Wood, a 45-year-old former child star who played Frodo Baggins, kept several memorable items from the trilogy after filming wrapped. His keepsakes include Frodo Baggins's one ring, the sword Sting, and one pair of prosthetic hobbit feet.

Fan Expo Canada appearance details

Fans will have the opportunity to see all four hobbit actors in person at Fan Expo Canada. The event takes place from August 27 to August 30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

'The fact that you [four] still hang out is so goddamn endearing,' Instagram user @theandystitch wrote. 'Now that's a Fellowship!'

Former castmates John Rhys-Davies and David Wenham are also scheduled to attend the convention. Attendees will be able to purchase autographs, selfies and photos with the actors.

Upcoming Lord of the Rings films

Wood is the only actor from the group cast in the upcoming prequel, Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Directed by Andy Serkis, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2027.

Fans who want to see all four hobbits in person (as well as John Rhys-Davies and David Wenham) can attend Fan Expo Canada, which takes place August 28-30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre

The Hunt for Gollum script was written by Lord of the Rings screenwriters Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh alongside Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou. Filming is set to begin later this year in Wellington, New Zealand.

All four hobbit actors will reunite on screen for another project, The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past. Set 14 years after Frodo's passing, the film is written by Stephen Colbert, his 28-year-old son Peter McGee and Philippa Boyens.
