The sci-fi thriller The End of Oak Street and the romantic comedy One Night Only lead the new cinema releases in Ukraine this week, alongside the documentary Kuzma: Terribly Funny.
The outrageous comedy I Want Your Sex, the acclaimed animated film Arco, and the French sports comedy Million Dollar Agents also arrive in local theatres.
Meanwhile, the teen musical Don't Say Good Luck premieres on Netflix.
The End of Oak Street
Set in the 1980s, the United States film The End of Oak Street follows a mysterious cosmic event that rips Oak Street from its suburb and transports it to an unknown place and time. The family living on the street soon discovers their survival depends on sticking together in an unrecognizable environment.
The thriller and action film stars Anne Hathaway, known for The Devil Wears Prada, Bride Wars, Les Misérables, Interstellar, and The Odyssey, alongside Ewan McGregor, who appeared in Trainspotting, Moulin Rouge, Doctor Sleep, and the Star Wars franchise.
The young Canadian actor Christian Convery, known for Cocaine Bear, Monkey, Frankenstein, and the series Sweet Tooth, also stars.
The American director David Robert Mitchell wrote and directed the film. He previously directed the horror films It Follows and Under the Silver Lake, which both premiered at Cannes.
One Night Only
The romantic comedy One Night Only follows Owen, a recently dumped young man, who accidentally bumps into the romantic dreamer Ellie in a somewhat fictional New York on a night when singles are allowed anything. They appear to be the only people in the city looking for more than a casual fling.
A spark flashes between them immediately, but misunderstandings and unexpected distractions complicate their night, constantly driving them apart. As they chase each other and run through the city streets, they might realize what they want most is closer than it seems.
Callum Turner, the new husband of pop star Dua Lipa who appeared in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Emma, Eternity, and Masters of the Air, stars alongside the Oscar nominee Monica Barbaro, known for Top Gun: Maverick, A Complete Unknown, and The Way to Crime.
Maya Hawke from Do Revenge, Asteroid City, and Stranger Things, and Julia Fox from Uncut Gems and Legend also star.
The American director Will Gluck, who made Easy A, Anyone But You, and Peter Rabbit, directed the film, which had its world premiere on August 3, 2026.
The United States film holds a 6.4 out of 10 rating on IMDb. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 45 percent approval rating from critics and a 73 percent rating from audiences. Metacritic gave it a score of 43 out of 100 from critics and 5.2 out of 10 from audiences, which both indicate mixed or average reviews.
Kuzma: Terribly Funny
The Ukrainian documentary Kuzma: Terribly Funny uses exclusive, never before seen archives to show the creative path of Andriy Kuzmenko, the frontman of the cult Ukrainian rock band Skryabin. The film covers his internal changes, his self irony, and his life at full speed.
The Ukrainian director Artem Hryhorian directed the biographical music film. He previously worked on Yaremchuk: Matchless World of Beauty, Okean Elzy: Watching the Storm, and the series Flash and Episodes.
I Want Your Sex
The United States romantic comedy I Want Your Sex centres on the famous artist and art gallery director Erica Tracy, who is known for her fiery temper and bold tastes. When the inexperienced Elliot gets a job with her, he immediately becomes her new muse.
He soon realizes he is in a much deeper and more dangerous situation than he could have imagined.
Olivia Wilde, known for Tron: Legacy, In Time, Cowboys and Aliens, Rush, The Neighbors Upstairs, and House, stars alongside Cooper Hoffman from Licorice Pizza and The Long Walk.
The cult American director Gregg Araki, described as a sort of mouthpiece for 1990s queer culture, directed the film. His previous films include The Doom Generation, Nowhere, and Mysterious Skin.
The film holds a 6.4 rating on IMDb. It has a 90 percent Certified Fresh rating from critics and a 64 percent rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Metacritic gave it a generally positive score of 68 out of 100 from critics, while audiences gave it a mixed or average score of 4.8 out of 10.
Arco
The animated adventure film Arco is set in 2075. Earth is experiencing a severe ecological crisis, people live in domed houses, and children are raised by robots instead of their busy parents.
A girl named Iris finds a boy in a glowing rainbow cloak who fell from the sky. The boy, Arco, arrived from a distant future where people live in sky houses and travel through time on rainbows.
Iris decides to help Arco return home, but there is almost no time as strange pursuers are already looking for him.
The French animator Ugo Bienvenu directed the film, drawing inspiration from the works of Hayao Miyazaki, such as My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, and Kiki's Delivery Service.
Arco had its world premiere in the official programme of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival before playing at other prestigious festivals. The co-production between the United Kingdom, France, and the United States won the 2026 European Film Academy Award and received Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nominations.
The film has a 7.3 rating on IMDb. It holds a 93 percent Certified Fresh rating from critics and an 89 percent rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Metacritic scores from critics and audiences were both generally positive, at 72 out of 100 and 7.3 out of 10 respectively.
Million Dollar Agents
The French sports comedy Million Dollar Agents describes the true story of two ordinary guys from France who conquered America in the 1990s.
Before meeting and opening their business, one worked at a video rental counter and the other washed floors at an airport. Without contacts, connections, or money, they became top agents with multi-million dollar contracts for world basketball stars.
The French stars Raphael Quenard, known for Junkyard Dog, Yannick, Jeanne du Barry, and Madly in Love, and Jean-Pascal Zadi from Simply Black and Represent, play the main roles.
The French director Anthony Marciano, best known for the 2013 comedy The Brats, directed the film, which holds a 7.3 rating on IMDb.
Don't Say Good Luck
The United States coming of age musical dramedy Don't Say Good Luck follows the high school student Sophie Birenbaum as she prepares to shine in the lead role of the school musical. Suddenly, even more drama unfolds at home than on stage.
Sunny Sandler stars in the lead role. She is the youngest daughter of the comedian Adam Sandler and has appeared alongside him in Hubie Halloween, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, Happy Gilmore 2, and Jay Kelly.
She stars alongside Melanie Lynskey from Don't Look Up, Yellowjackets, and The Last of Us, and Max Greenfield from Promising Young Woman, New Girl, and Playmaker.
Stephanie Beatriz from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Twisted Metal, Jack Champion from Scream 6 and the Avatar franchise, and Steve Buscemi from Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Fargo, and The Big Lebowski also star.
The American director Julia Hart, known for Stargirl and I'm Your Woman, directed the film.
The film will be available on Netflix from August 14, 2026.
