Mean Girls and The Notebook star Rachel McAdams turned down big movies during her 2-year career hiatus

Rachel McAdams brought to life some classic movie characters, such as Regina George in ‘Mean Girls’ and Allie Hamilton in the novel ‘The Notebook’. But did you know that the actress has turned down roles in big Hollywood movies?

In an interview with New York magazine hustle, McAdams commented on his two-year hiatus in his career, made so he could distance himself from the wear and tear of fame, and even mentioned a few movies he turned down during this time. Among them are “Iron Man”, “The Devil Wears Prada”, “Mission: Impossible 3”, “007 – Casino Royale” AND “Agent 86” – all films that had high box office and audience success.

“There are some things that I definitely wish I’d done. But I step back and say, ‘He was the right person for this,'” the actress says of her Hollywood rejections. She also takes advantage of the interview to open up about the sense of guilt she felt for not having taken advantage of the opportunities that presented themselves during this break:

I knew I was in a privileged position. But I also knew those roles didn’t fit my personality and what I needed to stay sane.”

McAdams also commented on some anxious moments wondering if he was wasting great opportunities. “It took me years to figure out what I was doing intuitively,” she said.

Years later, the actress regained her opportunity to participate in a major Marvel franchise when she joined the cast of Doctor Strange, playing the role of Christine Palmer. The latest project of the actress is “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret”, which will be released in 2023.
