A month before her death, Tina Turner admitted that she was in love with Mick Jagger

Tina Turner died last night, May 24, and since then the star colleagues have been remembering the artist one by one, and more and more previously unknown details of her life appear in the press. So, on April 8, in an interview with The Guardian, the cult performer admitted that she had always been secretly in love with the 73-year-old lead singer of The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, with whom she traveled on tour together.

I loved it when we toured with The Rolling Stones,” she recalled nostalgically.

One of Turner and Jagger’s most memorable moments on stage together was the 1985 Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium in London. Then, right during the concert, the rocker tore off the singer’s skirt when they performed the song “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll” together. In her 2018 memoir, Turner also detailed the experience:

Mick and I could never just stand and sing – it wasn’t us. We had to do something. He looked me up and down. I was wearing a tight black leather top and skirt, and I could see him coming up with a mischievous idea. He slyly asked: “Is this skirt removed?”, And I answered in a frightened way: “What?”. Then he said, “I’m going to take off your skirt.” I asked him why, but it was too late to discuss, Mick had already made up his mind to do it,” she wrote.

Admittedly, Jagger himself did not stand aside when he learned about the death of a colleague.

I am so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner,” the legendary musician wrote on social media. – She was an extremely talented performer, inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young, I will never forget her.

Tina Turner ended her musical career in 2009. She is survived by her widowed husband Erwin Bach, whom they married in 2013, and two adopted sons, Ike Jr. and Michael. Another son of the singer, Ron, died at the age of 62 from colon cancer – just six months before the death of the artist.
