“Carousel” became a classic of children’s soap operas in Mexico and Latin America. The story of teacher Ximena (Gaby Rivero) and her students captivated young and old with their adventures for more than a year of broadcasts in the land of the Aztecs, between 1989 and 1990.
For several years, part of the cast keeps in touch and now they use social networks to tell jokes about what they experienced in their childhood. They even announced that they are preparing a documentary called “When the carousel stops”, the name of the TikTok account where they share content.
In 1990, the end of ‘Carousel’, a melodrama that can be seen on ViX, was broadcast in Mexico and the audience noticed that the tender Cirilo did not appear in the chapter. Now, 33 years later, Pedro Javier Vivero, who gave life to the unforgettable character, revealed the reason for his absence.
Why didn’t Cirilo appear at the end of Carousel?
Through a short video posted on TikTok, the child star explained that it was all due to a disease given to him by his companion Joseph Birchwho gave life to David, the Jewish schoolboy.
” I got chicken pox and indeed I could no longer participate at the end of the novel because I was between my sheets, my bed and my blanket, scratching desperately to calm my itch,” recalls Pedro Javier.
” I felt no regret. I assumed it as such, with a degree of acceptance, resignation,” he added.
Despite the fact that his absence was conspicuous in the climactic episode of the children’s story, he took it in stride as he was an important part of the whole venture.
” If I wasn’t coming out, then it must have been for something. Well, out of 365 chapters, you made it through 364, not bad for being a true heartthrob with the little girl at a young age, hold on people, there you go. I’ll be back,” he humorously concluded, recalling his beloved Maria Joaquina, a character played by Ludvika Paleta.
