Will Smith’s NGO is on the verge of bankruptcy after the Oscar slap

Will Smith and his wife’s charity is facing a crisis

Will Smith’s slap to Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars still has consequences for the actor. This is because since then Smith’s charity, run together with Jada Smith, his wife, has been in crisis.

The NGO “Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation” champions causes related to education, sustainability, well-being and health. However, as of the 2022 Oscars, it no longer has any sponsors. According to Variety magazine, the withdrawal of major financiers resulted in an 83% drop in revenue.

Before the Oscars, the Institution’s revenue reached $2,138,660 (about 10 million rupees) in 2021. However, in the following year, collections dropped to $365,870. In fact, the airline American Airlines is an example of a sponsor who left the NGO.

Although Will and Jada Smith have decided to end the project, they wish to continue with private donations. According to the magazine, they contributed to art institutes and causes that connected minors with adult mentors.
