The reason that led Ana de Armas to visit the grave of Marylin Monroe before ‘Blonde’

The actress has confessed that she wanted to ask permission from the sixties icon before interpreting her. Sniff, sniff, what a gesture.

Putting yourself in the shoes of Marilyn Monroe has led to several criticisms of Anna Arms. On the one hand, we understand that ‘Blonde’, the film that Netflix has prepared about the life of the figure of the sixties and that will be released this Friday the 23rd, is in the spotlight. Norma Jeane is ‘known worldwide’ as La Veneno used to say. But the actress has had to bear comments to her because of her Cuban accent (of course, she comes from this country). However, none of this has influenced the opinions of the public, who have applauded Ana and the film, as was the case with Brad Pitt.

All the work done has had its reward, but this started long before today. According to Armas herself for AnAnother, before the recordings began. The actress has confessed that she went to Marylin Monroe’s grave with the intention of ‘asking her permission’ to play her in the film: ”We had a huge card on which we all put messages for her. So, we went to the cemetery and put it on her headstone. In a way, we were asking if we could do the movie. We all feel what a great responsibility it is and we were clear about the part of the story we wanted to tell: that of Norma Jeane, the person behind the character of Marylin Monroe. Sniff, sniff, we think it’s a real feat!

Although she wanted to make it clear that, despite the fact that on many occasions she thought that Marylin was on the set, she does not feel connected to her: ”I was in the character for nine weeks, but not between takes, nor in Lunch time. I am Ana. But, emotionally? The weight stayed with me. There was no way to switch off when she got home, because she had to study the next day’s lines or she was on the phone with Andrew. [Dominik] until midnight. He dreamed that he had long conversations with her. Once we were choosing the color of a vase in which we would put flowers. He thought about her so much that he started sobbing sometimes. He had a terrible feeling, he knew he couldn’t ‘fix’ her.’ Without a doubt, this character has changed the life of Ana de Armas.
