Henry Cavill says Superman’s future will be bright and “extremely joyful”

After making it official that he would be returning as Superman, Henry Cavill commented on the character’s future in an appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, revealing that he had talked about his upcoming appearances.

“There’s such a bright future ahead of the character and I’m very excited to be telling a story with an extremely light-hearted Superman,” Cavill said.

With the hiring of director James Gunn, in charge of “The Suicide Squad”, to command DC Films, it is possible to imagine that the humorous tone will indeed be the tonic of the upcoming releases of the DC Comics adaptations.

At this point it has already been commented a lot, but for those who have not seen “Black Adam” it is still a spoiler – beware! – that Cavill’s return as Superman was the result of pressure from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He faced resistance from Walter Hamada, president of DC Films, and lobbied directly on Warner Bros. to get Cavill to play Superman in the “Black Adam” post-credits scene.

With Hamada’s resignation, the horizon opened for Cavill to return to the wing. And with James Gunn and producer Peter Safran at the helm of the new DC Films, plans for the actor should take him to new heights. After all, Gunn mentioned Superman in “The Suicide Squad” and left comic fans eager to see the clash between the Man of Steel and the “villain” Bloodthirsty (Idris Elba), who ultimately won the conditions for to happen.

But for now it has not yet been defined what Cavill’s next steps in the DCU (Cinematic Universe of DC Comics) will be, after the end of the DCEU (the old nomenclature of the old administrative regime).
