Michael J Fox, 61, best known for his role as Marty McFly in the cult franchise Back to the Future, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991. Since then, he has established a foundation for research into the disease, received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and the Distinguished Philanthropic Award, and has never stopped fighting the disease. However, this year brought the actor new troubles. In addition to the fact that the actor’s mother Phyllis died in September at the age of 92, he received several serious injuries.
I broke my jaw, then my arm, then my shoulder, and then my elbow. I am 61 years old, but I feel much older, – admitted the actor.

Fortunately, Fox’s condition has improved, which, according to the actor, caused him an emotional lift. The actor is determined to protect his health at all costs.
Only now my last injuries are healing, my hand feels good. Life is interesting, he said. The mission is not to fall. So anything that keeps me from falling over, whether it’s a walker or a wheelchair, a cane, a guy with a belt around my waist, holding on to it, I use all these tools.
Fox also admitted that after he and his wife Tracy Pollan came face to face with his illness, their marriage only became stronger.
It took me some time to realize that this was not just about me,” Fox said. – If I break my arm, it will not only be my problem.

The actor noted that his children never saw their father completely healthy. Fox and Pollan have four of them: 33-year-old son Sam, 27-year-old twin daughters Aquinna and Schuyler, and 21-year-old youngest daughter Esme.
My younger ones never knew me without Parkinson’s, Fox said. “And the oldest Sam was 2 or 3 years old when I was diagnosed. So they never knew anything else.
Note that now Michael J. Fox is increasingly being published without outside help. So, at the beginning of October reunited with his Back to the Future co-star Christopher Lloyd and attended New York Comic Con.
Parkinson’s disease significantly affects cognitive abilities, and, as you know, a good memory is the main tool of an actor. Fox finally left the cinema in 2020, leaving behind bright roles in the three parts of Back to the Future, the films The Secret of My Success and War Victims, as well as the TV series Spin City, Save Me and Good wife”.
