Gabriel Costason of Gal Costaspoke of mourning after the death of the singer, in an interview with the program Fantasticfrom Globelast Sunday, the 13th. This was the first time the 17-year-old boy had commented on the loss of his adoptive mother, who died at the age of 77, in São Paulo last week.
Gal Costa’s son confessed that he was only able to understand the extent of the Brazilian popular music icon’s success after her death. “I had a vision that she was my mother. I didn’t have her dimension as a singer. I only understood it when she woke up. And that’s why I came here [ceder entrevista]”, She said.
“She was very sweet. Very clingy. I said, ‘Mom, for God’s sake (…) There were some hours where I wanted to be alone, quiet, and she would come in, holding on, hugging, kissing'” she said, fondly remembering what the routine was like for both of them.
The son regretted not having enjoyed Gal’s company even more. “I haven’t taken much advantage of my mother being here. I haven’t spent much time sitting with her and my godmother [Wilma Petrillo] speaking. I was playing, watching series. I should have had more fun,” she said.
