Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham has undergone major double-disc jaw surgery, leaving her jaw wired shut and her face severely swollen after the operation.
The 35-year-old television personality underwent the procedure to correct a severe medical condition, but the aftermath has left her virtually unrecognizable compared to her usual appearance.
Following the operation, Abraham is completely unable to speak for the next two months and must consume all of her meals in liquid form through a straw while her mouth remains wired shut during the initial recovery phase.
Her manager, Chrissy Johnston, told the Daily Mail that the reality star is enduring intense physical suffering as well as emotional distress. "Farrah cannot speak because her jaw is wired shut, and her face is extremely swollen. She is in a severe amount of pain and is really struggling, both physically and mentally," Johnston shared.
Johnston revealed that the procedure has also resulted in a sudden sensory loss for the star. "To make matters worse, she has also lost hearing in her right ear. I hope and pray that her pain eases soon and that her hearing returns to normal over time," Johnston added.
Shortly after completing the surgery, Abraham made a brief appearance on a TikTok live stream hosted by her daughter, Sophia. Fans who tuned in were left shocked by her disfigured appearance as she navigated her inability to talk.
Unable to vocalize any words, Abraham held up a handwritten sign to the camera to communicate with viewers. The sign read, "I had surgery + can't talk. Thanks for all the gifts."
Abraham also addressed the physical toll of the operation directly with her followers on Instagram. "I feel like Frankenstein right now," the OnlyFans model wrote, adding in a subsequent update, "Praying my face comes back in three months."
Severe Complications and Hospital Recovery
The Daily Mail obtained graphic photographs of Abraham recovering in her hospital bed shortly after the double-disc operation was completed. The images show a jagged, bloodied scar alongside visible stitches running along both her jawline and her ear.
The former MTV personality had been dealing with painful jaw issues throughout the entire year prior to entering the hospital. Johnston told the Daily Mail that Abraham attributes the physical deterioration of her jaw to the trauma of an alleged crime.
According to Johnston, the star believes her condition was triggered by a sexual assault and battery case. "She believes the trauma and stress from the assault affected her nervous system and contributed to the damage she has experienced," Johnston explained.
Johnston emphasized how demanding the post-operative period will be for the mother of one. "After everything she has already endured, to now be left in excruciating pain, unable to speak or open her mouth to eat normally for months, is an enormous amount for anyone to endure. She is going through an incredibly difficult time right now," Johnston said.
Podcast Revelations and Ongoing Pain
Before undergoing surgery, Abraham discussed the debilitating nature of her condition during a May appearance on the Pillow Talk podcast. Speaking with host Ryan Pownall, she explained that the ongoing pain made simple daily tasks almost impossible.
"I can't use my jaw. I can't open my mouth up normally," Abraham explained during the episode. She highlighted the impact on her daily life with a humorous complaint, adding with a laugh, "I would like to just open my mouth for a hotdog, okay."
When Pownall made a joke about her condition preventing her from performing oral sex, Abraham quickly fired back. "I would crush everybody's you-know-whats!" she shot back during the recording.
