Fast & Furious 11 Director Has Not Read Latest Script

Fast & Furious director Louis Leterrier says he has not read the Fast Forever script that star Vin Diesel claimed was finished for a 2028 release.

Fast & Furious 11 Director Has Not Read Latest Script

Director Louis Leterrier has stated he has not read the screenplay for Fast Forever, contradicting statements made earlier this year by star Vin Diesel. The upcoming film is set to serve as the final installment in the Fast & Furious movie saga.

At the start of the year, Diesel confirmed that the final movie would arrive in theaters on March 17, 2028. The actor claimed he had already read the definitive script, calling it the best screenplay he had read in decades and noting that the story moved him to tears.

However, Leterrier confessed in an interview with Polygon that he has not read the script Diesel referenced. The situation has surprised fans of the franchise, as it is unusual for a lead actor to have access to a script before the director sees it.

When asked directly about the status of the project, Leterrier stated that he would like to tell the whole truth, but he cannot. He added that the film will have a great ending and expressed gratitude to be part of the franchise alongside Diesel and Universal Pictures.

Production Problems and Schedule Doubts

The director's comments come shortly after actor Alan Ritchson, who made his franchise debut in Fast X, acknowledged that the production is going through big problems. Ritchson stated those issues must be resolved before the film can move forward normally.

Universal Pictures has not offered explanations regarding these apparent contradictions or provided an official update on the development status of the film. The lack of clarity has sparked doubts about whether Fast Forever will be able to hit its scheduled release date in 2028.

Beyond the main film franchise, the Fast & Furious brand is expanding with a live-action series, and potentially more projects to come. Despite the behind-the-scenes complications, work on the ultimate farewell for character Dominic Toretto and his family remains underway.
