Konstantin Bogomolov, Eduard Boyakov, and actor Dmitry Pevtsov are candidates for rector of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts, news agency TASS reported.

Citing a source in theatre circles, the agency reported that the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts, also known as GITIS, could be led by one of the three candidates. An insider stated that Bogomolov, Pevtsov, and Boyakov are currently the primary contenders for the post.
Candidate Backgrounds
Bogomolov is the artistic director of the Theatre on Malaya Bronnaya. In January, he was appointed acting rector of the Moscow Art Theatre School, but he was dismissed from the post a few days later following a wave of criticism.
Boyakov currently serves as artistic director of the Theatre on Malaya Ordynka. Pevtsov stated in early 2025 that he had left the Moscow theatre Lenkom, where he performed as an actor.
Investigation into Former Rector
The Ministry of Internal Affairs previously launched an investigation into former GITIS rector Zaslavsky. Authorities are checking Zaslavsky for potential involvement in abuse of power and unjustified salary calculations.
