How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days Sequel Greenlit by Paramount

Paramount Pictures has greenlit a sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, with stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey expected to return.

The new film is currently in a very early stage of development at the studio, which is actively searching for a screenwriter to draft the story.

'Cómo perder a un chico en 10 días' tendrá secuela
If Kate Hudson returns, Matthew McConaughey is very likely to return as well.

Hudson is officially attached to the project as a producer alongside veteran filmmaker Stacey Sher. While no cast members have been formally confirmed, producers intend for both Hudson and McConaughey to reprise their roles as Andie Anderson and Benjamin Barry.

Producers indicated that the return of both leads will depend on the final story proposal and successful deal negotiations.

Romantic comedies reached a cultural peak between the 1990s and early 2000s. While recent releases have attempted to capture that era's appeal, studios are increasingly turning to direct continuations of classic titles.

Recent projects such as Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 demonstrate how films from past decades can return to explore how original love stories evolved over time.

Original Plot and Cast

The original 2003 film followed Andie Anderson, a magazine writer preparing an article on how to get a man to end a relationship in ten days. Her target subject was Benjamin Barry, an advertising executive who had bet colleagues that he could make any woman fall in love with him in the same timeframe.

What began as a calculated scheme for both characters ultimately developed into a genuine romance.

Hudson and McConaughey established themselves as a premier romantic comedy duo through the original film. Hudson gained early acclaim in Almost Famous, while McConaughey later earned an Academy Award for Dallas Buyers Club.

Sher brings extensive experience as a veteran Hollywood producer, while studio backer Paramount Pictures continues to revisit legacy comedy properties across its film division.

Next Steps in Production

Paramount is currently seeking a writer to develop the screenplay before finalizing talent deals and setting a timeline for production.
