You do not need fillers, complicated techniques or a whole collection of products to make your lips look juicier and fuller. A lip pencil in the right shade, combined with a bit of strategy around the lip line, can make a visible difference to the final result.
The secret is not to draw a much larger outline, which often looks unnatural, but to work smartly on the specific points you want to emphasize.
Start With Clean, Hydrated Lips
Before picking up the pencil, make sure your lips are smooth and well hydrated. If there is dry, flaking skin, the liner will not apply evenly. Apply a thin layer of lip balm and wait a moment for it to absorb. If there is excess product left, gently blot it away with a tissue.
Choose a Shade Close to Your Natural Lip Color
For a natural result, choose a nude or pink-brown pencil that sits close to your own lip tone. Avoid a very dark outline, especially if the goal is to make lips look bigger, since strong contrast can make the liner look painted on.
Avoid Overlining Everywhere
Start at the cupid's bow and draw minimally outside the natural line, following its shape. You can do the same at the center of the bottom lip, moving slightly outside the natural outline there too. At the corners, however, stay right on the natural line. This small difference makes lips look fuller without making the technique obvious.
Fill In and Blur the Line
Do not leave the pencil as a strict line around the lips. Using small strokes, pull the color inward. You can even fill in almost the entire surface of the lips with the same pencil, which makes the result more even and helps the color last longer.
Then, using a finger or a small brush, gently blur the inner edge of the line toward the center of the lips. The aim is to avoid harsh lines so the color looks like it naturally belongs to the lips.
Add More Color to the Center
If you have a little extra time, go over the pencil again at the center of the top and bottom lip. A slightly more intense shade in the center creates the visual effect of more volume, while the softer, blurred areas at the corners keep the overall look natural.
The result is a pair of lips that look fuller, better shaped and juicier, using nothing more than a single lip pencil.
