Arthur shared the news through a post on his official Instagram account, where he expressed his gratitude to fans and his excitement for the upcoming release. He noted that audience members at his recent concerts had already heard the track performed live over the past few weeks. The artist thanked listeners for their strong reactions, adding that seeing fans connect with the unreleased song during his shows felt particularly special.

Theme and Message of the New Track

The singer explained that Waste My Tears focuses on understanding personal worth, letting go of matters that do not deserve energy, and moving forward without looking back. He shared that one of his favorite personal phrases is to never stop being yourself, expressing hope that the line would carry meaning for his audience. Arthur concluded his announcement by thanking followers for their ongoing support and stating that he could not wait for the single to belong to his fans.

The upcoming single arrives after a busy touring schedule for the musician. Arthur spent 2026 traveling across the United Kingdom on The Pisces World Tour. On March 27, 2026, he released the single At Last, a collaborative project featuring American guitarist Dereck Trucks.

From Local Bars to Chart Success

Arthur fell in love with music at age 15, when he began writing songs and performing in local bars. He gained national recognition in 2012 after participating in and winning the ninth series of the British television competition show The X Factor. His winning single, a cover of Shontelle's Impossible, became a major commercial success and remains widely recognized.

He released his self-titled debut album in 2013 before taking a temporary hiatus from the industry following public controversies and accusations. Arthur returned to music in 2016 with his second album, Back From The Edge. That record featured the hit song Say You Won't Let Go, which became one of the most streamed tracks of the decade.

Arthur followed that success with his third album, YOU, in 2019. During the 2020 pandemic quarantine, he spent extensive time songwriting, which led to the release of his fourth studio record, It'll All Make Sense In The End, in 2021.

In January 2024, the singer published his fifth studio album, Bitter Sweet Love, which reached number one on the official British album charts. He followed that achievement in April 2025 with his sixth studio album, Pisces, setting the stage for his current world tour and upcoming September release.
