Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan said he regularly encounters negative reactions from viewers over the actions of his character Negan in the television series The Walking Dead. The actor admitted the reaction surprised him, as he had assumed viewers were aware of the character's future fate from the comic books.
Morgan particularly remembered an incident in a coffee shop when he and Norman Reedus met an 80-year-old fan of the series. When the elderly lady saw Morgan, she hit him with a handbag and started cursing. Morgan said the situation was serious and recalled Reedus telling them they needed to leave quickly.
Spin-off script changes
Because of audience hatred, the actor wanted to leave the series The Walking Dead: Dead City. Producers had to hire a new screenwriter to better develop Morgan's character.
