Garner, who shares three children with her ex-husband Ben Affleck and recently went hiking with her boyfriend John Miller, has frequently shared details of her fitness routines with her followers on social media. Affleck and Garner were married from 2005 to 2018, while Los Angeles serves as the center of the Southern California entertainment industry where the star lives and works.

Garner's intense fitness regimen

In March 2025, Garner demonstrated her agility by posting a video performing a set of 18-inch box jumps. During that session, she followed virtual instructions from her trainer Beth Nicely, who is the founder of the fitness company The Limit.

Garner was also seen boxing on the set of the second season of her series The Last Thing He Told Me in late 2024. Earlier that same year, she revealed the specific workout schedule she followed to get "Marvel fit" for her return as the superhero Elektra in the 2024 feature film Deadpool & Wolverine.

Sharing a montage of her training sessions in an Instagram reel at the time, Garner wrote in her caption that before taking on the role, she was "fit, but not @marvel fit." Her training regimen for the movie included boxing three times a week, riding a Peloton bike, and completing high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts, which alternate short bursts of intense exercise with recovery periods.

To prepare for the superhero role, Garner and her longtime stunt double Shauna Duggins increased the intensity of their training sessions under the direction of Nicely. Garner once described the celebrity trainer as "lethal" because of the intense nature of her exercise programs.

The miniseries is based on the 2023 novel of the same name by author Elin Hilderbrand. In addition to starring in the production, Garner serves as an executive producer alongside a cast that includes Regina Hall, Chloe Sevigny, D'Arcy Carden, and Gemma Chan.

According to a logline on IMDb, the show follows a beloved food influencer grappling with loss who hosts four friends from different chapters of her life for a weekend in Nantucket, where hidden truths emerge and relationships evolve amid coastal luxury. Nantucket is an island situated south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

Garner discussed the project in an interview with Elle magazine, expressing her enthusiasm for the storyline. "I hope people watch this and have a blast," Garner told the publication. "You have women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, talking about perimenopause and menopause, but it's not pedantic and it's not an eye roll."
