Sony Pictures has released the trailer for Jumanji: Open World, the fourth installment in the franchise that began with the 1995 adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg’s book. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a Golden Globe nominee, leads the cast.
In this concluding chapter of the trilogy, the video game characters enter the real world through a console found in an old house. In their attempts to return, they swap bodies and find themselves caught up in a series of adventures.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will feature half of a die from the original movie as a nod to Robin Williams, who starred in it. At the CinemaCon trailer presentation, Johnson said the game was for Robin.
Director Jake Kasdan returns alongside co-writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The cast includes Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Danny DeVito, and others, with Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jukes joining the ensemble.
The film premieres worldwide on December 25. The two previous reboot films, Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and The Next Level (2019), combined for over $1.7 billion at the box office.
