Broadcaster Kaye Adams has announced her return to live radio seven months after her departure from BBC Radio Scotland.
The 63-year-old presenter will co-host a one-off special edition of Sunday Brunch on STV Radio alongside fellow broadcasting veteran Shereen Nanjiani, 64.
The three-hour broadcast will air on Sunday, October 4, running from 9am until noon. The appearance marks Adams's most significant return to live radio since she was sacked from her role hosting Mornings With on BBC Radio Scotland in October 2025.
During the upcoming Sunday Brunch show, Adams and Nanjiani will guide listeners through a handpicked playlist of their favourite songs while sharing their perspectives on life, work and current affairs.
Speaking about her return to the station, Adams expressed her enthusiasm for reuniting with her long-time colleague on air.
"STV has such a special place in my heart and I'm delighted to be back for a trip down memory lane with my old pal, Shereen 'The Screen Queen' Nanjiani," Adams said. "This show will give her the chance to tell everyone how excruciating my accent was when I walked into STV HQ 38 years ago."
Nanjiani also welcomed the joint appearance, highlighting their shared history at the Scottish broadcaster.
"I’m delighted to get this chance to co-host with Kaye as STV is where our lifelong friendship began, and I have so many happy memories of our time there," Nanjiani said. "We’ve had a lot of fun reminiscing and choosing a great playlist of our favourite songs for the show. I’m looking forward to sharing our stories with listeners, even the embarrassing ones. It’s been decades since Kaye and I presented a show together, so I hope we’re still friends at the end of it."
Early career at STV
The upcoming radio broadcast represents a return to the broadcaster where Adams began her television journalism career 38 years ago. She first joined STV as a reporter in 1988, covering major news events across Scotland.
Adams later stepped into anchor roles at the station, presenting flagship news programme Scotland Today as well as the award-winning discussion show Scottish Women. STV is the main commercial television station serving central and northern Scotland.
An insider source spoke to the Daily Mail about Adams's reaction to the new radio opportunity following her exit from public broadcasting.
"It has been a difficult year for Kaye, so she was thrilled when the offer came in," the source said. "Kaye has been kept busy with her TV work and podcast, but would love to be back on the airwaves on a more regular basis. It is her passion, and she was devastated when it was taken away from her. She loves throwing herself into work, and this could be the start of new opportunities for her."
BBC Radio Scotland departure and inquiry
Adams's return to the airwaves follows a turbulent period with BBC Radio Scotland, where she spent 15 years hosting the flagship morning talk show Mornings With while earning a salary of £155,000 a year.
BBC Radio Scotland is the national English-language radio service operated by BBC Scotland, providing news, current affairs and discussion programming nationwide.
In October 2025, Adams was removed from her morning programme following misconduct complaints from colleagues. The allegations included claims that she swore at a co-worker, threw a pen or pencil in a studio, berated an intern and used a misogynistic slur 14 years earlier.
Following an internal investigation, the BBC confirmed in February 2026 that Adams would not be returning to the station. The broadcaster reportedly upheld some of the misconduct allegations while dismissing others.
Denials and YouTube interview
Adams strongly rejected the misconduct allegations in a statement published on her Instagram account after the internal probe.
"I’ve tried to keep a dignified silence, but these attacks on my character are now so persistent, they can no longer go unchallenged," Adams wrote. "I categorically deny using a misogynistic slur 14 years ago, and I’m horrified at its invention more than a decade later. It is absolutely not a word I would have used."
Addressing the remaining allegations in her statement, she added:
"As for 'berating an intern', this is simply untrue. Regarding the allegation that I threw a pencil while alone in an empty studio, words fail me. I am heartbroken that 15 years of hard work and dedication to BBC Scotland is being reduced to this."
In August 2026, Adams discussed her departure during an appearance on the debut episode of broadcaster Vanessa Feltz's YouTube show, At Home With Vanessa, which launched on a Saturday.
During the interview with Feltz, 64, Adams admitted that she should have left her BBC Radio Scotland role long before she was removed, acknowledging that she had felt very unhappy in the position.
"I probably allowed myself to drift into 60 thinking that I could keep everything the same and actually, I should have made some decisions in that I was very unhappy where I was," Adams told Feltz. "I should have left, but I was scared and I kicked myself for that."
Television roles and ongoing work
Despite the end of her 15-year career at BBC Radio Scotland, television network ITV has continued to support the presenter. Adams remains a regular anchor and panellist on ITV's daytime talk show Loose Women.
