Filming for the television series Knights of the Forty Islands has officially wrapped, producers announced alongside new photos from the set on Aug. 5. The project, adapted from prose by Sergei Lukyanenko, now enters post-production ahead of an expected premiere on a major online platform during the upcoming season.
The series follows modern teenagers forced to survive daily in a new world. Main character Dima travels to the Forty Islands following a girl he is in love with, discovering a realm torn apart by continuous conflict.
Artyom Koshman, Polina Gukhman, Veronika Ustimova, Oleg Savostyuk, Svyatoslav Rogozhan, Kuzma Kotrelev, Nikita Kologrivyy, Yelisey Chuchilin, Alexandra Nesterova, and Nika Zhukova star as the teenagers. Mikhail Porechenkov, Alexander Oblasov, Dmitry Kulichkov, and Yulia Volkova play their parents.
Adaptation and Creative Team
Producer Andrei Zolotarev said the creators aimed to match the world crafted by Lukyanenko as closely as possible. Because scripts and books differ, Zolotarev noted that the team allowed themselves to craft a story based on the original work. He said the project focuses on core human qualities revealed when facing difficult dramatic choices.
Egor Chichkanov, director of Kombinatsiya and Hi Again!, directed the series. The Internet Development Institute supported the project.
