Kyle Richards broke down in tears during a preview for Bravo's Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th while sharing an anniversary message from her estranged husband.
The 56-year-old reality television star became emotional while reflecting on her 30th wedding anniversary on January 20. Confiding in her co-star Vicki Gunvalson in the clip, Richards admitted she was having a moment over the milestone date, revealing that her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, 56, sent her a text message that left her deeply upset.
Richards detailed what Umansky wrote as she opened up about the exchange. "He sent me a text and it just sent me off," Richards said. "He said today's always such a hard day and I love you. He said I don't know how we got here." Reflecting on their relationship, she added: "I thought we were stronger than that. I really had thought that."
The emotional exchange comes three years after the couple announced their shock separation. Richards and Umansky were together for three decades and share four daughters: Farrah, 37, Alexia, 30, Sophia, 26, and Portia, 18. Richards is best known as a flagship cast member on Bravo's reality franchise, while Umansky is a luxury real estate broker and agency founder.
Gunvalson Reacts to Dissolving Marriage
Gunvalson, who split from her ex-husband Donn Gunvalson in 2010, offered her perspective in a confessional interview during the episode. "My heart is breaking for Kyle because they've got everything everyone is looking for and 30 years of marriage, all of a sudden it's dissolving," Gunvalson said.
Richards also shared what has proven to be the most painful aspect of navigating a public breakup. "The thing that bothered me the most, honestly, was people saying that we gave them hope that true love existed," Richards reflected. "And now, that went out the window for them. But I understand people thinking like that."
Gunvalson did not hold back when offering her perspective directly to Richards during their conversation. "You let your family down. You let your kids down. You're showing them it's okay to bail out when things get tough. It's not okay," Gunvalson told her friend. She added: "For me, you guys were the epitome of staying together forever. You're supposed to grow old together, you're supposed to do life together, [have] grandkids."
Life After Separation and Family Dynamics
Since their separation, Umansky has been linked to a string of women, including models Klaudia K and Nikita Kahn, both of whom are in their mid-30s.
Last November, Umansky spoke to People magazine about the advice his daughters gave him regarding his love life following the split. "The biggest advice that they give from their perspective is: 'Dad, we want you to be happy. We want you to enjoy yourself, but be age-appropriate,'" Umansky revealed.
Despite their ongoing estrangement, Richards and Umansky have continued to reunite for key family milestones. The former couple came together in June to celebrate their youngest daughter Portia's high school graduation.
