The Russian film "Last Warrior. Kolobok" earned more than 200 million rubles at the box office as of August 9, according to Championat.com. Data from Russia's unified automated information system showed the film reached that mark on its fourth day in Russian theaters, following its premiere on August 6.
The movie currently ranks first in local box office charts, ahead of "Smeshariki: Through the Universes."
Story and cast
"Last Warrior. Kolobok" tells the backstory of the character Kolobok, showing how he was baked, escaped, fell in with bandits, and later teamed up with an unlucky baker named Tikhon. Garik Kharlamov, who voiced the character in "Last Warrior: Root of Evil," returned for the lead role, alongside cast members Dmitry Zhuravlyov and Mila Yershova. Anton Maslov, one of the creators of the series "Last Warrior. Legacy," directed the film.
Pre-release controversy
The film was surrounded by controversy before its release. Russian theaters postponed the unofficial premiere of "Spider-Man: New Day" to make way for "Kolobok," pushing the superhero film's Russian release to August 20. According to media reports, unknown individuals then threatened the director and lead actor on social media, and a criminal case was opened against the users involved.
