Italian singer Laura Pausini has released Quando Chove, a new Portuguese language version of her song Quanno Chiove featuring Brazilian artist Sandy, on August 7, 2026.

The release resolves several days of mystery after Pausini uploaded enigmatic social media posts to Instagram containing only the date August 7, 2026. The new collaboration has now been added to the updated tracklist of her recent album, Io Canto 2.

Pausini stated in an Instagram post that the track pays tribute to the original Italian song written and recorded by Neapolitan poet Pino Daniele in 1980. Daniele was a celebrated Italian singer and composer known for pioneering a blend of jazz, blues, and Neapolitan folk traditions.

She explained that Brazilian lyricist Nelson Motta later adapted the composition into Portuguese in 1994 for singer Patricia Marx, whose recording became a major commercial success across Brazil and Portugal.

According to Pausini, the Portuguese duet was not present on the album version issued in March 2026, which contained only the Italian track. She added that the song is prepared for inclusion in her upcoming live performances across Europe and South America.

Artistic Connection With Sandy

The new single highlights a long artistic relationship between Pausini and Sandy that originated during the 1990s before the two musicians met in person. Sandy, a prominent Brazilian pop star who achieved nationwide fame alongside her brother in the duo Sandy and Junior, recorded Portuguese versions of two Pausini hits during that era, including Inesquecivel.

The duo made their first television appearance together in 2001 on the Brazilian broadcast show Altas Horas. They have maintained a close personal friendship in the years since.

The release comes amid an active period for Pausini as she promotes Io Canto 2, a sequel to her 2006 covers collection Io Canto. The project features interpretations of notable Spanish and Italian songwriters, including a version of Mi Historia Entre Tus Dedos.

Global Tour and World Cup Performance

Pausini launched her international tour in Spain in the spring of 2026, performing dates in Pamplona, Tenerife, Barcelona, Valencia, and Madrid. The tour subsequently visited several Latin American nations and multiple cities in the United States.

Her most recent concert took place on June 6 in New York. Following an extended summer break, the tour will resume on October 1 in Mantua, Italy, before traveling extensively across Europe and South America.

Scheduled tour stops include Germany, Portugal, Brussels, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Bologna, Brazil, London, Sweden, and the Netherlands, featuring multiple appearances in France and Italy. The tour will conclude on November 30, 2027, in Zagreb, Croatia.

Earlier this year, Pausini participated in promotional appearances on television programs including La Voz and La Revuelta. She also performed the track Desire alongside Robbie Williams and Nicole Scherzinger during the closing ceremony and show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.
