Groups at risk will have priority in applying the monkeypox vaccine; the indication is two doses of immuniser for each person
Starting this Monday, March 13, Brazil will start vaccinating the population against monkeypox, the best known disease for mpox. To the National Immunization Program (PNI) there are around 47,000 doses available and the indication is that there are two doses of immuniser for each person.
In the first stage of vaccination, the Ministry of Health explains that groups at risk will be prioritized. This list also includes HIV patients and professionals working in laboratories with exposure to the virus. These two groups will receive the vaccine if there is pre-exposure to the virus.

People with direct contact with bodily secretions of people suspected of having the disease, those who are possibly positive (or already are) with high- or medium-risk exposure will also receive the vaccine. However, in these cases, immunization will occur after exposure.
Second G1, guidelines for pre-exposure vaccination stipulate a 30-day interval with any previously applied vaccine. In case of post-exposure, the vaccine can be applied regardless of previous administration.
The Ministry of Health explained that, as immunization progresses, more vaccines will be sent, in accordance with state requests.
