GKay always makes a sensation with looks that anticipate the trends. And in general they cause creeps in the networks. This time was no different. The influencer and comedian posed in a simple black dress and quirky sandals. His followers even asked: “How are you doing with that?”. Or: “I’m going to get some wire from my father’s fence and make one like it!”, said another.

Crafted from intertwined metallic cables, the sandal looks too complicated to walk on at first glance, but it makes a huge impact on GKay’s basic look, complete with black suit and blazer. Due to its strange and different form, the comments range from acceptance to amazement, many in an amusing way. “It looks like a sandal transforms! How do you walk on top of those people?” said another netizen.
Celebrities also voiced their opinions and questioned GKay. “Is it comfortable?” asked plus-size model and host Mayara Russi. The Swiss designer, who has already dressed the influencer, simply wrote: “Icon” (iconin English).
Adriane Galisteu posted photos of designer Ying Ou’s shoes in her Stories, whose work was exhibited during London Fashion Week, and even borrowed GKay sandals to try them on. “I think you wear a size 35. I wear a size 36. I think if you give it some hold, I can only try it on, just to see if it’s worth the investment,” he said and added: “I’m crazy for shoes, it’s no use. I pay attention, because I like to stand and I keep noticing people’s feet,” he said. “I fell in love with it, I felt like putting it on my feet”.
The collection
Ying Ou, a postgraduate student in footwear at the London College of Fashion, explained the collection in a post “Awakening” (Awakening) where did the inspiration come from. “The collection explores the unconscious and unusual interaction between the most obvious objects that have lost their connection in public space – railings or handrails – and the body, experiencing its different sensations of mental space. In doing so, it explores new forms of footwear and “try to evoke human communication and perception with objects in public space. I use defamiliarization, distortion and exaggerated deformation to express the expression of emotions in shoes, and seek innovations in metal materials, leather treatment and 3D printing technology,” said the designer.
The collection includes four pairs of fashion concept shoes and two pairs of experimental concept shoes. “I hope my shoe acts as an ‘alert’ to draw attention to areas people weren’t looking at, to keep the mind from going numb.”
