Spring is the right time to provide plants with essential nutrients. Use a balanced fertilizer, rich in nitrogen to stimulate vegetative growth.

As temperatures rise, plants tend to need more water. Monitor the soil regularly and water when the top layer is dry. Avoid wetting the soil to prevent the roots from rotting.
Pruning

Transplant
If your plants become cramped in pots, spring is a good time to do transplants for larger containers.
Propagation
Spring is a favorable time for propagation of many plantseither through seeds, cuttings or division of the tufts.
What can not be done in spring
Excess water
Although the plants require regular watering, avoid excess wateras this can lead to root rot and the appearance of fungi.
Drastic pruning
Avoid radical pruning in spring, as this can compromise the plants’ ability to flower and develop properly.
Excessive use of fertilizers
Despite the need for fertilization, avoid excessive use of fertilizers, which can cause salts to build up in the soil and damage plants. But be careful, each plant has specific needs for light, water and nutrients.
“It is important to know the individual needs of your plants to provide adequate care, always pay attention to the development of the plants and carry out regular checks for any signs of problems, such as leaf spots, insects or wilting,” teaches Renata Guastelli.
Spring is an exciting time for plant lovers, as it offers the opportunity to see nature’s growth and renewal. By following these general guidelines, you will be on your way to having a lush, healthy garden all season long.
