Find out all about the animation which will be released in theaters on January 4th and promises to pay homage to the company
“When you wish on a star…”. The music that filled “Pinocchio” in 1940 and became Disney’s theme song is back in theaters, but now as direct inspiration for a movie’s plot. “Desire: The Power of Wishes”which will be on display on January 4, reveals to viewers the origin of the star who makes the studio magic happen.

The animation produced for celebrate the company’s hundredth anniversary brings with it a simple narrative: Asha, a young dreamy and fearless girl, fights to give back to the inhabitants of the Magical Kingdom of Roses their desires, captured by the Magnificent King, who promises to grant them, but is only interested in power and vanity.
In this undertaking, the new princess makes a wish and it is granted by a cosmic force. This is how Estrela, a cute character who doesn’t speak, descends from the sky, bringing with her the magic that helps make dreams come true. The representation imitates the work of the studiosso often reaffirmed by Walt Disney, great creator of the company created in 1923.

Celebration of origins
The simplicity of the plot for such an important celebration may disappoint those who expected an overwhelming production. “Wish” does not promise to repeat phenomena like “Frozen” and perhaps will not have musical hits like “Encanto”, which attracted true fans of the Madrigal Family.
Anyway, the structure that refers to the origins – from the book that opens in the first scene, just like in an old fairy tale, to the childish purity of making a wish on the stars – there is a hint of nostalgia that can appeal to an adult audience and a clarity that tends to work well with young viewers.

Easter eggs in “Wish”: the hidden details
To further enhance the centennial celebration, executive producers Peter Del Vecho and Juan Pablo Reyes paid close attention Easter eggs – references hidden in the film to pay homage to other Disney productions. One of these, and perhaps the first to be noticed, is revealed in Asha’s seven friends, inspired by the seven dwarfs from “Snow White” (counting the sneezing character, the sleepy one, the angry one and so on…).
Another classic are the talking animals and plants of the forest, present in various animations – with Cinderella’s mouse and lines that allude to “Frozen” and “Bambi”, for example. The magic Star dust that resembles Tink, from “Peter Pan”, the name of the king, Magnificent (in English), similar to that of the evil stepmother, Malificent, and also the line “mirror, mirror of mine” are other easier ones examples to perceive. But don’t worry about these few revelations: the producers say there are many more surprises for the audience to discover!
Brazilian version
The film has already premiered in the United States, but will only hit the big screen on January 4th. To satisfy curiosity, however, the soundtrack in Portuguese has already been released. Furthermore, the voice acting team is also already known: it includes Marcelo Adnet, Alcione, Xande de Pilares and others.
