Just adapt this consumption to the goals so that there is no damage
Have you started the year 2024 with a full focus on both your nutrition and sticking to your exercise routine? Wonder! This arrangement must continue until December 31 to achieve results. So there are still many doubts about the weight loss process, for example: does tapioca with egg make you fat?
Tapioca with egg is not fattening!
“No. No food alone is capable of gaining or losing weight. Weight gain or loss will depend on the overall eating pattern, energy expenditure and level of physical exercise of each person. 100 g of tapioca contains approximately 232 kcal and 100 g of egg. About two eggs contain 146 kcal. The isolated consumption of tapioca with only egg will not be responsible for weight gain or loss”, Larissa Gavioli, nutritionist of the ‘Sírio-Libanês Hospital.
In this way, the expert highlighted that tapioca with egg denotes the combination with the absence of dietary fiber, that is, vegetables overcome this deficiency, in addition to the increased intake of vitamins and minerals.
“Fibres play an important role in intestinal function, they promote satiety and help control blood sugar levels. A suggestion could be the addition of tomatoes, carrots, courgettes or endives to make the preparation even more nutritious. For those who need a higher protein consumption, it might be interesting to add another protein source, such as grated chicken or white cheese,” he suggested.
Another detail of tapioca with egg for weight loss
Remember that weight loss occurs due to a calorie deficit, which means that the amount of calories consumed must be less than energy expenditure. So, this delicacy adapted to a diet plan will help achieve this goal.
“There is no better time to consume it. It is often used for breakfast, as a snack and also as a strategy to replace dinner. However, everything will depend on the overall dietary pattern and the food plan proposed by a nutritionist”, underlined Larissa.
Tapioca with egg before or after training?
“It can be before or after training. Being a food rich in carbohydrates, it will be a good source of energy before training. However, the combination of tapioca and eggs may not be interesting for running, swimming and cycling at due to greater volume, longer times for gastric emptying and some people may feel a sensation of suffocation”, explains the professional.
“After training can be a good strategy, since the combination of carbohydrates and proteins will ensure energy and promote protein synthesis. However, for adequate protein synthesis, it is recommended to consume proteins regularly throughout the day and not only after exercise – and post-workout nutrition will depend on the type of exercise, duration, intensity and food tolerance,” he adds.
Vetoes on the consumption of tapioca
Individuals with diabetes depend on an evaluation as this food is a source of simple carbohydrates. “For people prone to constipation, special care should be taken. Tapioca is a food that does not contain fiber and, combined with a low-fiber dietary pattern and inadequate water consumption, can intensify intestinal constipation,” he stressed.
Is it good to eat tapioca every day?
“The Brazilian People’s Food Guide cites tapioca as a suggestion for one of the foods to eat for breakfast, for example. Tapioca comes from starch extracted from a natural food, cassava, and is therefore a minimally processed product. Other sources of carbohydrates can be consumed at breakfast as a replacement, such as bread, simple cake or couscous. In general, there is no problem in consuming tapioca every day and it can be consumed alternating with other foods, which guarantees greater dietary diversity “, concluded Larissa Gaviolli.
