On Wednesday 8th, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) announced that doctors registered with the Regional Medicine Council of Rio Grande do Sul (Cremers) are authorized, on a temporary basis, to provide online prescriptions of medicines for controlled use, such as narcotics and psychotropic drugs, for the population of the RS, which for two weeks has been experiencing one of the worst climatic tragedies and limitations in relation to access to health services.

The process is to be carried out through a digital platform created by Brazil’s Regional Medical Councils in April 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19, and has already issued 5 million documents. Now, with the support of the Undersecretary of State for Health, Arita Bergmann, Cremers has taken action to promote the use of the tool, with the aim of guaranteeing greater ease of access for those who use controlled drugs, as well as checking the prescription and the traceability of dispensed medicines. drugs.

Cremers’ digital tool can be used to help people who are in isolated areas or have difficulty traveling. This way, those who need drugs that can only be prescribed in blue and yellow prescription notices, which include narcotics and psychotropic drugs, will be able to ask their doctors to prescribe them through the digital platform.

“The prescription of special control drugs will especially benefit psychiatric and oncology patients affected by the floods,” Cremers president Eduardo Neubarth Trindade said in a statement.

The tool is now available for use by doctors registered with Cremers in Rio Grande do Sul. To use it, simply access the ‘Medical Space’, on place of the Regional Council. Digital prescription issuing will also soon be available via the Medicine Council app.
