Buttery guava biscuit

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon of chemical yeast
  • 1 cup (tea) whey-free cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter at room temperature
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 cups guava paste, cut into 3cm long sticks
  • Wheat flour for dusting
  • Margarine and wheat flour for greasing
  • Crystalline sugar and icing sugar to taste for sprinkling

Preparation method:

  1. Place the sifted flour in a bowl and mix it with the salt and yeast.
  2. Make a well in the center and add the cream, butter, egg yolks, sugar and vanilla.
  3. Knead well and form a ball.
  4. Place in a plastic bag and leave to rest for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  5. Roll it out on a floured surface and then cut it into 4cm squares.
  6. Place a piece of guava paste in the center of each square of pastry and close by joining the two opposite ends to form a parcel.
  7. Spread onto a greased and floured baking tray.
  8. Sprinkle with crystal sugar and bake in a preheated medium oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Sprinkle with icing sugar as soon as you remove it from the oven and serve immediately.
