The Persian feline won the category of the FIFe World Show 2024 international competition and even ended up on the social networks of its namesake, DJ Diplo
Brazilian cat Diplo, a Persian breed, won the title of best puppy in the world at the 2024 FIFe World Show, held in Norway, and attracted attention when he was awarded the award by none other than DJ and music producer Diplo, his namesake. The artist used his social networks to celebrate the feline’s victory, dubbing him the “sexiest cat in the world”.
Diplo, the cat, is looked after by Alex Martins, cat breeder and exhibitor in Sorocaba (SP). He says the animal’s name was chosen after a memorable encounter with DJ Diplo at singer Madonna’s show on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro in May.
“I was in line for the show and the DJ opened the show wearing a Brazilian shirt. He saw me, asked me if I wanted the shirt and gave it to me. It was an unforgettable moment,” Alex recalls in an interview with g1.
Inspired by the interaction, he decided to honor the artist by naming the puppy. Since then, Alex and the DJ have maintained sporadic contact. After the show, the artist joked on social media asking for the shirt back, but Alex assured that the piece would be kept as a special souvenir.
Award and international resonance
The FIFe World Show is one of the most prestigious competitions in the catphilia universe, which brings together breeders from all over the world. During the event, Diplo the cat impressed the judges with his morphological pattern and behavior.
“It’s not just beauty that matters, the breed standard carries more weight. It was exciting to see his name announced as champion, with our flag on the screen,” commented Alex.
