How was the life of the actors of the super popular TV series “The Tower of Babel” in the 90s

More than 20 years have passed since the premiere of the “Tower of Babel”, but the series has still not lost its fans. We decided to find out how the fate of the actors who played the main roles in it developed.

Tony Ramos – Jose Clementino da Silva

It is José, who has served a sentence for the murder of his wife, who becomes the key character in the series. Obsessed with revenge and hatred, he hatches a plan to blow up the mall, and several dozen people are involved in this story whose links are not at all obvious at first glance.

It was Jose’s role that made Tony Ramos famous in Brazil – and then around the world. And after playing the killer, he decided to never accept the role of villains again. Now Tony is a star of the first magnitude in his native country. He directs projects, acts in cinema and theater, and also works as a cultural adviser to the Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro.

Tarcisio Meira – Cesar Toledo

The actor, who played the role of the imposing and tough patriarch of the Toledo family, died in 2021 at the age of 85 from complications caused by the coronavirus. Tarcisio Meira lived a wonderful life: he was Brazil’s most famous TV actor and starred in over 50 series. In the Tower of Babel, Tarsisiou worked with his wife, Gloria Menzies. In the series, Cesar and Martha Toledo have a very complicated relationship, but in reality, Tarsisio and Gloria lived in perfect harmony, their marriage lasted more than half a century.

Marcus Palmeira – Alexandra Toledo

The 90s of the last century were a golden period for Marcus – he received roles in almost all Brazilian rating projects and was incredibly popular. However, something went wrong: either Palmeira grew weary of the public or his agent instincts betrayed him, but in the 21st century pretty Alexandra had no interesting roles. Now he plays little – he mainly produces theater and television shows, and is also active on social networks, talking about his travels with his wife.

Adriana Estevez – Sandrinha

The waitress Sandra was adored by the audience – not only for her easy temper and charming appearance, but also for the difficult fate that the scriptwriters had in store for her: the daughter of the criminal José was lucky enough to fall in love with the son of his main enemy César . Alexandre and Sandrinha were, without a doubt, the most loved couple in the Tower of Babel.

Have you watched the series “The Tower of Babel”?

Yes

Not

Surprisingly, actress Adriana Estevez hasn’t changed much! The Tower was his debut, and it turned out to be a very good start for his career. Adriana played many roles in series that gained fame (including such hits as “My Love, My Sorrow”, “Defiant”, “Brazil Avenue”). She has twice been nominated for an Emmy as Best Foreign Actress. She was married three times and brings up two sons, as well as the daughter of her husband Vladimir Brishta – the girl’s mother died of leukemia.

Leticia Sabatella – Celestial

Beautiful Leticia is especially dear to the Russian audience, because she played Latifa, Zhadi’s sister in the series “Clone”, which broke all records for popularity in our country. In the Tower of Babel, she got the role of a woman with an extremely difficult destiny: Céleste is the secret lover of the son of Marthe and César, the drug addict Guilherme. She is the mother of the grandson of Cesar and Marta Toledo, of whom no one knows at the moment.

Celeste’s life ultimately went well, but luck turned away from the actress who played her. There were no more stellar projects in her career, things of the heart also went wrong: in 2019, Sabatella went through a painful divorce from her second husband, Fernando Alvis Pinto, with whom she lived for six years. The actress fell into the occult and mysticism and found her calling in singing. Letizia has changed, but she is still very good.
