THE National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) this Monday 20th banned the consumption of Ouro Negro extra virgin olive oil and Chá do Milagre (“miracle powder”) and suspended the marketing, distribution, advertising and consumption of 13 lots of Himalayan salt from the Kinino company.
In the case of Himalayan salt, the measure was announced after the manufacturer, HL do Brasil Indústria e Comércio de Produtos Alimentícios, responsible for Kinino, communicated the voluntary recall of the product.
Reports released by the Adolfo Lutz Institute indicated that the batches had lower iodine content than required by law. Oil
Ouro Negro extra virgin olive oil, of which all batches had been banned, was targeted by Anvisa for its unknown origin and for having been disqualified by Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Map).
Furthermore, the product label states that it is imported by Intralogística Distribuidora Concept, a company with CNPJ suspended by the Federal Revenue Agency.

Miracle tea
Another banned product was Miracle Tea. The object was targeted by the agency because its composition, classification and manufacturer are unknown.
Another irregularity identified was the advertising of the tea on Facebook and Instagram with medicinal claims. The posts associated the product with purported therapeutic benefits, such as weight loss, combating anxiety and insomnia, cancer prevention and sexual stimulation. This practice is not allowed for products such as food and tea.
