In Instagram Stories, she posted a series of images showing what her hair looked like at the time and wrote:

“After we made the pregnancy public, I suffered a crazy wave of hate on the internet. Remember? I was really sick, I had a very heavy psychological episode and the result was alopecia. My hair was falling out and splitting these holes in my head”.

“We never imagine the impact words have on the lives of others. There are many people who speak just for the pleasure of distilling hatred. But it’s okay, my hair has grown. I have improved and evolved. It was difficult to hold back . We had just announced the pregnancy, Viih was also very fragile and it went very bad too. I didn’t want anything to disturb our moment. There are good and bad things in between. It was a bad thing, but all is well there we’ve moved on, other things will come… I just didn’t want to make it public at that time so as not to make the situation worse, not to turn into a snowball,” he added, specifying that he no longer has the problem.

What is alopecia?

Second doctor Luke Mirandaa dermatologist member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, there are two different types of alopecia: areata and androgenetic.

The expert warns that this problem can have a negative impact on the mental health and self-esteem of patients and that, to treat it, it is essential to have the help of a dermatologist so that the professional investigates and determines the appropriate course of action.

alopecia areata

Considered an inflammatory and non-contagious disease, alopecia areata causes hair loss and is characterized by circular defects. It can be related to several factors, such as genetics and autoimmune involvement. Emotional issues, physical trauma, and infectious conditions can trigger or worsen the condition.

The specialist explains that the extent of this hair loss can be different, depending on the case. In some situations, a few regions are affected, but there are also rarer ones where there is complete loss of hair on the head or body.

Due to the fact that alopecia areata does not destroy hair follicles, this condition does not prevent hair from growing back, even if total loss occurs. Meanwhile, this inflammation can generate new outbreaks, causing the individual to lose their threads again.

Periods of great stress can be associated with the development of alopecia areata, as stress weakens the immune system, helping to generate an autoimmune response from the body and causing inflammation of the hair follicles.

“The stressful scenario causes the levels of cortisol, known as the stress hormone, to remain constantly high. This interferes with the activity and health of the hair follicle, preventing it from entering the growth phase and causing clumps of hair to fall out. hair. , which generates loopholes in the circular format”, underlines the Dr. Luciana Passoni, doctor specializing in hair and hair transplantation

androgenic alopecia

Androgenetic alopecia is a disease that mainly affects men, but can also occur in women. This condition can begin to develop in adolescence, when sex hormones begin to be produced. The main complaints are: thinning hair and more noticeable scalp.

“The concept accepted by the scientific community to date is that the male and female hormonal axis, consisting of ovaries/uterus and testis/prostate respectively, lead to the production of androgen hormones (such as testosterone). This, in turn, is transformed into DHT (dihydrotestosterone), through the action of an enzyme (5 alpha-reductase). DHT, therefore, acts on the hair follicle and over the years causes the so-called miniaturization of the hair in genetically predisposed subjects. This begins with puberty, with ‘hormones on the surface'”, specifies the dermatologist doctor Philip Chediekwith a specialist title from the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD) and a postgraduate diploma in trichology and capillary therapy from Anhembi Morumbi University.
