Macla Yamada tells Mario Irivarren to check his ego after on-air clash

Actress and radio host Macla Yamada called out Mario Irivarren over his treatment of a production worker on the Peruvian program “La manada,” saying the former “Esto es guerra” contestant needs to learn to control his ego.

The incident drew widespread comment on social media on July 30, centered on a clash between Irivarren and producer Jatziry Abad. Yamada, a presenter on radio Onda Cero and co-host of the podcast “Ouke,” addressed the situation on her Friday, July 31 broadcast.

Yamada said the apparent trigger was a verbal exchange between Irivarren and Abad, possibly over a failure to exchange greetings when Irivarren returned from vacation, a detail she noted he brought up repeatedly. She added that other minor incidents were said to have occurred outside the show.

She described the mood among the production team as visibly uncomfortable. She said that Lucho, a former Ouke colleague, looked genuinely ill at ease, and that Christian, the producer she credited with rebuilding “La manada,” and Abad both appeared to be signaling to Irivarren that the timing was wrong.

Yamada offered pointed advice, saying Irivarren had come across as someone who returned from vacation and immediately started throwing his weight around. She said he should not let his frustration show when things do not go his way, and that if ratings were the motivation, there are better ways to go about it.
