Golden apron runway challenge

The opening challenge of the night takes place inside the studio workshop, where contestants compete for the coveted golden apron. The golden apron serves as a pass that guarantees direct passage to the next round of the competition, granting immunity from elimination.

To win immunity, the aspirational designers must craft a runway outfit inspired by the work of nine-year-old fashion creator Max Alexander. Alexander holds the Guinness World Record as the youngest designer to present a collection at New York Fashion Week.

Designer Luis de Javier will be present in the workshop during the challenge, which will also feature an appearance by guest Eduardo Navarrete.

Maestros de la Costura is produced for Spanish public broadcaster RTVE and airs on its primary network, La 1. The celebrity edition puts public figures through rigorous garment construction tasks judged by industry fashion experts.

Sustainable hemp challenge in Alcalá de Henares

For the outdoor team challenge, production moves the contestants to the El Encín estate, situated in the municipality of Alcalá de Henares near Madrid. The task focuses on sustainable fashion using natural hemp fibers.

Working under strict time limits, the teams must design and construct a freestyle look using hemp. Hemp is a cannabis derivative and stands as one of the oldest natural textile fibers, recognized for its low environmental footprint.

Executives from fashion firm Hemp Fabric will be on site to advise the contestants as they execute their designs under clock pressure.

3D printing technology and double elimination

The final elimination challenge tests innovation and avant-garde design in the studio. Fashion creators Isabel Sanchís and Paula Maiques introduce the task, which requires contestants to incorporate 3D printing technology into their work.

Contestants forced into the elimination round by wearing the black apron must produce a preliminary double sketch before integrating three-dimensional printed components into their finished garments.

The technical test demands high precision from the remaining designers. At the end of the broadcast, two contestants will be sent home in a final double elimination.
