Marvel has cancelled its superhero series Wonder Man after one season, with the studio confirming it never began development on a second-season script. The cancellation was announced on July 30.
Star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II addressed the news on social media, saying that everything would work out. Some have interpreted the comment as a hint that his character could appear in future Marvel projects.
In his post, Abdul-Mateen II noted that Wonder Man would not be returning for a second season, adding that such is life and that things would be fine.
Wonder Man, which premiered in late January, follows Hollywood actor Simon Williams, who acquires unusual abilities through ionic radiation and must balance a superhero life with his work in the film industry while hiding his powers. The show earned strong reviews, scoring 91 percent from critics and 87 percent from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
